Education

As PWRR has grown over the course of almost two decades, the fundamental importance of education has emerged front and center as a critical piece to the puzzle of wildlife protection.  We are proud to spearhead a variety of educational endeavors, aimed to fill this need and bridge the gap.  Rescuing wildlife is a critical responsibility, but it is also purely reactive, because the damage has already been done.  Robust and compassionate education will our be our future legacy of prevention.

Youth Ambassadors

One of the most effective ways to educate is through personal action and community engagement.  This is precisely what our youth ambassadors are doing through our brand new Youth Ambassadors pilot program.  They aim to serve by making engaging educational opportunities and meaningful action projects available to the public, with an emphasis on inspiring fellow youth.

Towel Donation Drive

Animal caretakers go through many towels, T-shirts, baby blankets and sheets while meeting the needs of their patients and residents.  Our volunteers are no exception, so our youth ambassadors occasionally gather donations to help meet this need.  Click the button below to learn how you can play an important part in this supply drive!

Lending Libraries

Our Youth Ambassadors are in the process of building a number of lending libraries that will be installed throughout the community and stocked with free, nature-themed books for the public to enjoy!  This lending library follows the "take a book, leave a book" philosophy, in an effort to encourage sharing and cooperation, ensuring that meaningful resources are available to everyone.  To learn more about this project and how you can participate, click the button below!

Presentations

Educating youth is a critical piece of the puzzle when it comes to wildlife advocacy, which is why we invest a lot of effort in providing curriculum resources and educational supplements like our WECK blog.  But what makes these educational initiatives even more powerful is when children can share their own knowledge and passion amongst one another, teaching their peers and encouraging each other as they collaborate to make a difference.
